Every page of your store that loads a font from fonts.googleapis.com sends your visitors' IP addresses to Google — without consent. Since the Munich Regional Court ruling in 2022, this practice legally exposes European merchants, and cease-and-desist waves keep coming. The Local Google Fonts module fixes the problem at the root: search any font in the built-in Google Fonts catalog, pick your weights and alphabets, click Import. The woff2 files are downloaded once to your server, and your visitors never contact Google again. An option even strips the external calls your theme or other modules inject into the HTML.

The module doesn't stop at compliance — it optimizes. Automatic subsetting only downloads the alphabets you check (latin, latin-ext, cyrillic…) and keeps the unicode-range declarations so browsers only fetch the character ranges actually displayed. The critical file of each family can be preloaded, and the font-display strategy (swap by default) eliminates invisible text during load. Finally, replacement rules — CSS selector to font — apply your new typography on top of the theme without touching a single file: body, headings, buttons, everything is managed from the back office. Compatible with PrestaShop 8 and 9, no Composer, no framework, vanilla JS.
