Custom app or public app: what's the difference?
A custom (or « single-merchant ») app is built for your store only: no public listing, direct install, ideal for internal automations or business integrations. A public app is meant for the Shopify App Store, installable by any merchant: it involves billing, onboarding, a marketing listing and Shopify review. We build both and steer you toward the right one during scoping.
How much does Shopify app development cost?
For a simple custom app (automation, third-party API integration, small admin screen): from €4,000, delivered in 3 to 6 weeks. For a public App Store app with billing, onboarding and the Built for Shopify badge: €15,000 to €50,000 depending on scope. A free audit sizes the real complexity for your need.
What are Shopify Functions?
Shopify Functions replace the legacy Shopify Scripts. They let you inject your business logic server-side into checkout: custom discounts, reordering or hiding delivery and payment methods, cart validation. Compiled to WebAssembly (Rust or JS), they run fast and natively inside the platform.
Do you migrate legacy checkout.liquid scripts to Checkout Extensibility?
Yes, it's a common case. Shopify is removing the legacy checkout.liquid in favour of Checkout Extensibility (Checkout UI Extensions, Functions, branding API). We audit your existing customisations (scripts, additional scripts, checkout.liquid) and reimplement them cleanly in the new model before the deadline.
Do you publish the app on the Shopify App Store?
Yes. We handle listing preparation, compliance with Shopify requirements (OAuth, mandatory webhooks, GDPR/mandatory webhooks, performance), billing via the Billing API, and support all the way to passing Shopify review and the Built for Shopify badge when it's targeted.
Do you provide the source code?
Yes. You receive the sources, the Git repo, the documentation and the invoice. The code is yours, with no blocking IP clause.
Compatible with a Hydrogen headless storefront?
Yes. We can build on the Storefront API / Hydrogen side (Remix frontend on Oxygen) in addition to admin apps. If your project is mainly a custom storefront, we scope it specifically since the concerns (perf, SEO, hosting) differ from an admin app.
