Frequently asked questions
Why migrate to PrestaShop 9?
PrestaShop 9 brings Symfony 7, PHP 8.3+, the definitive end of Smarty in favor of Twig 3, and a modernized back-office. The 8.x branch keeps receiving security fixes, but new features and recent modules now target 9.x. Migrating now means securing 4-5 years of active support.
Will my PrestaShop 8 modules work on 9?
It depends. Recent modules (published or updated in 2025-2026) generally pass without modification. Older modules using Smarty, deprecated hooks, or Symfony 6 helpers need adaptation. The pre-migration audit lists each of your modules with its status: compatible / needs adaptation / needs replacement.
How long does the migration take?
For a standard shop (medium catalog, 5-15 third-party modules, Classic or Hummingbird theme): 5 to 10 working days. For a complex shop (large catalog, many custom modules, heavily modified theme): 15 to 25 days. The quote gives a binding deadline to the day.
Risk of losing orders, customers, or SEO?
Not if the migration is done right. Product, category, customer, and order IDs are preserved as-is. URLs don't change (unless you want them to). Sitemap and existing redirects are kept. Search Console post-switch monitoring is included to validate that no SEO signal is lost.
Is PrestaShop 9 stable for production?
Yes, since 9.0.x stable, and 9.1 added fixes and performance improvements. The first shops have been running in production since late 2025. For very critical shops (>500 orders/day), we recommend waiting for 9.1.x to benefit from more feedback — without staying on 8.x past 2027.
What if I'm coming from PrestaShop 1.7?
We also handle 1.7 → 9, but it requires two steps (1.7 → 8.x stable, then 8.x → 9.x). The direct jump isn't supported by PrestaShop. It's longer (typically 15 to 30 days) and riskier on the theme side (Smarty to Twig). Pricing then starts at €6,000.
What's NOT included in the price?
The price covers technical migration: code, database, modules, base theme. Not included by default: graphic redesign, new feature additions, hosting change, back-office training. All of these can be added to the quote on request.
