Our best PrestaShop modules for subscriptions and recurring revenue
Five modules to turn one-off sales into predictable revenue: subscriptions, scheduled replenishment, membership and conversion alerts.
Every month starts from zero: find visitors, convince them, convert them. Recurring revenue flips the logic. The customer commits once, the revenue keeps coming back, and your cash flow becomes predictable.
Sound familiar?
Revenue that resets to zero
Every month restarts the same race: traffic, conversion, cart. No predictable base to build on.
Consumables bought elsewhere
Pet food, coffee, cosmetics: the customer reorders the same product, but from the competitor who offered a subscription.
Expertise given away
Your guides, videos and premium content go out for free when they would justify paid access.
Stock-outs that drive people away
Product unavailable, price too high: the visitor leaves without a trace, and you never learn they wanted to buy.

Revenue that comes back on its own
A one-off sale starts from zero every month. A subscription, a scheduled order or a paid membership turns the same customer into predictable revenue: on the 1st of the month you already know what the 30th will bring.
Three mechanics, one goal
Stripe recurring payments for consumables, scheduled orders for commitment-free replenishment, paid content to monetise your expertise. All three combine on a single PrestaShop 8 or 9 store.
And for customers who are not ready yet
Back-in-stock and price-drop alerts capture purchase intent the moment it exists, then convert it once conditions are right. Deferred revenue instead of a lost visit.
How to choose
Start with what your customers already rebuy
Recurring works first on regularly consumed products: food, care, cosmetics, technical consumables. Look at your orders: if the same customer rebuys the same product every 30 to 60 days, a subscription or scheduled order is a no-brainer.
Subscription or scheduled order?
Stripe subscriptions charge automatically: ideal when the basket is stable and the customer convinced. Scheduled orders send a payment link before each due date: they reassure customers wary of direct debits and remove the fear of commitment. Many stores offer both.
Membership for content, not products
A paid membership area suits stores with real editorial value: expert guides, videos, community. It combines well with the shop: the content subscriber often becomes the best product buyer.
Do not overlook passive recurring
Stock and price alerts do not create subscriptions, but they build a flow of buyers that returns without paid acquisition. It is the natural complement: every unconverted visit feeds future sales instead of vanishing.
What you gain
Predictable revenue
Stripe subscriptions charge automatically every period. You know your revenue floor before the store even opens.
Frictionless replenishment
The customer schedules the repeat and receives a ready-to-pay cart link before each due date. Zero commitment, zero forgetting.
Your content becomes a product
Paywall, membership area, access subscription: expertise sells like a product, with automatic renewal.
Intent captured
Back-in-stock and price-drop alerts: every interested visitor leaves an email and comes back to buy when conditions are right.
End-to-end tracking
Every alert and every billing cycle is measured through to conversion: you know what each mechanic earns.

Frequently asked questions
Do subscriptions require a Stripe account?
Yes for automatic recurring payments: the module relies on Stripe Billing for charges, expired-card handling and failed-payment retries. Scheduled orders however work with any payment method, since the customer settles each due date personally.
Can customers manage their subscription themselves?
Yes. From their account they can pause, change frequency, update the card or cancel without contacting support. This is a legal requirement in the EU and a key trust factor at sign-up.
What is the difference between a subscription and a recurring order?
A subscription charges the card automatically each period. A recurring order emails the customer a ready-to-pay cart before each due date: they keep control of every payment. The first maximises retention, the second maximises the sign-up rate.
Can I offer subscribers a discount?
Yes, it is the standard seeding mechanic: a subscriber price below the one-off price, displayed on the product page. The discount is easily funded by the subscriber's higher lifetime value.
Are stock and price alerts GDPR compliant?
Yes. Signing up for an alert is explicit consent for that precise notification. Collected emails do not automatically join the newsletter: they serve only the requested notification, with an unsubscribe link.
Is this compatible with PrestaShop 9?
Yes. The whole selection covers PrestaShop 8.0 to 9.x, using native hooks and no core overrides.
