A detailed look at how Pet Shop Module for PrestaShop 8 & 9: Pet Profiles, Feeding Calculator and Food Reorder Reminders works, why we built it the way we did, and the thinking behind the features above.
Why an online pet shop loses customers at every bag
Dry food is bought again every month, but nothing in PrestaShop knows when. The customer finishes the bag, goes to the supermarket or a competitor, and the recurring sale is lost. This module knows each pet, calculates what it eats and knows when the bag will be empty. The reminder arrives at the right time, with a one-click reorder.
A portion calculated the way a specialist seller would
For dogs and cats, the module starts from the pet's energy needs based on its metabolic weight, life stage, neutering and activity, then converts them into grams using the energy of the food. If you prefer the table printed on the bag, the module interpolates it at the pet's exact weight. The target weight replaces the current weight when the vet has advised a diet.
The right bag size on the product page
Each combination gets its net weight, detected from its name or entered by hand. The customer sees how many days each bag lasts for their pets and the price per kg. The recommended size is the cheapest per kg among those lasting at least two weeks without staying open beyond the shelf life you set.
Replenishment based on real consumption
Each validated order adds its quantity to the customer's plan for that food. The stock is projected from the estimated delivery date. The customer's answers recalibrate the consumption, which gives the empty date. The reminder goes out a few days earlier, with a lead time you set according to your delivery times.
No automatic charge, a one-click reorder
The module does not charge the customer. The e-mail button leads to their account, fills the cart with the same size and applies a single-use voucher limited to that food. If that size is out of stock, the available size closest in quantity is offered. The customer pays with your usual payment methods.
