A detailed look at how Solidarity Rounding & Checkout Donation works, why we built it the way we did, and the thinking behind the features above.
Why offer solidarity rounding?
Checkout round-ups and micro-donations have become powerful engagement levers: a painless gesture for the customer, a stronger brand image for the shop, and real support for a charity. Solidarity Rounding builds this mechanism right into your funnel, with no friction and no dependency on an external provider.
Three modes to fit your audience
The round-up mode invites the customer to bring their order up to the nearest euro, or to the nearest half-euro depending on the step you configure. The fixed amounts mode shows ready-to-click buttons (1, 2, 5 €…). The free amount mode lets the customer enter the sum of their choice, between a minimum and a maximum. You enable a single mode or all three.
A clean technical integration
Rather than tampering with the total, the module materializes the donation as a virtual product hidden from the catalogue, and sets its price through a cart-bound specific price. As a result, the donation appears as a clear line in the order, affects neither the catalogue nor other customers, and stays consistent until payment. In round-up mode, the amount is recalculated automatically if the cart changes.
No VAT on the donation
The donation product is created without a tax rule: the amount shown and collected matches the customer's gesture exactly, with no VAT surprise. You keep control over the actual payout to the charity according to your own process.
Donation tracking in the back office
A “Solidarity donations” tab is added under Orders. It lists each donation with its amount, its mode (round-up, fixed or free), the customer and the related order, and shows the total collected. Everything you need to prepare your payout and your communication with peace of mind.
Customization and translations
The charity name, its logo and the block text are configurable and translatable into the module's five languages. The block displays on the cart page and, depending on your theme, in the order summary.
