What it does

The short version.

01

Unlimited categories and sub-forums

Multi-level parent/child hierarchy, multilingual, with icon, description and drag-and-drop ordering in the back office. Each sub-forum shows its topic count, post count and last post.

02

Full moderation and pre-moderation

Enable, pin, lock or delete topics and posts, individually or in bulk. Optional pre-moderation mode: new posts go into a queue before publication.

03

Inline AJAX edit, delete and report

Members edit or delete their own posts within a configurable edit window, and report abusive content. Each report triggers an e-mail notification to the administrator.

04

Native full-text search

FULLTEXT index on post titles and content: your visitors instantly find a discussion, and Google indexes rich content generated by your customers.

05

Friendly URLs and customer-account integration

Readable addresses for the forum, categories and topics, plus a link in the customer area and footer. The forum becomes a real section of your store, not an external add-on.

The long version

Everything you'd want to know before you install.

A detailed look at how Community Forum — PrestaShop 8 & 9 works, why we built it the way we did, and the thinking behind the features above.

§ 01

Why a forum on your PrestaShop store?

A community forum turns one-off buyers into engaged members. Customers help each other, ask pre-sale questions, share their use cases: all user-generated content that reassures new visitors, lightens your support load and feeds your SEO. Rather than a third-party tool hosted elsewhere, this module installs the forum at the very heart of your store, tied to the existing customer account.

§ 02

A clear structure of categories and sub-forums

Organise discussions exactly as you like: a hierarchy of categories and sub-forums across several levels, each with its icon, description and position. Everything is multilingual: name and description are translated per language, and the order is set by drag-and-drop in the back office. Each sub-forum shows its number of topics, posts and last message at a glance.

§ 03

Calm moderation, from preventive to curative

You stay in control at all times. Enable pre-moderation to approve new posts before publication, or let the community speak freely with after-the-fact moderation. From the back office you pin, lock, enable or delete topics and posts, individually or in bulk. Member reports land in a dedicated queue, with direct access to the post concerned.

§ 04

Autonomous members, controlled spam

Logged-in members create their topics, reply, edit and delete their own posts within an edit window you configure. On the protection side, the module combines several safeguards: an invisible honeypot field against bots, a configurable anti-flood to limit posting frequency, an enforced minimum length, and community reporting of abuse with e-mail notification.

§ 05

Search, friendly URLs and SEO

Forum content is a goldmine for SEO, provided it is accessible. The module generates clean, readable URLs for the forum, categories and topics, and exposes a full-text search based on a native FULLTEXT index. Your customers instantly find a discussion; Google indexes pages rich in long-tail keywords produced by your own users.

§ 06

Built for PrestaShop 8 and 9

The module is developed to run on PrestaShop 8 as well as PrestaShop 9, with no adaptation. It relies on ObjectModel and ModuleAdminController rather than Symfony controllers, for maximum cross-version compatibility, with manual autoloading requiring no Composer. On installation it creates its tables, its back-office tabs, registers its hooks and seeds a first demo category.
