PrestaShop Catalogue Management

Hide Products by Customer Group for PrestaShop 8 & 9 + In-Store Tablet Catalog

One catalog, and every customer group sees exactly the products meant for it.

Getting new arrivals ready, keeping a range for resellers, or showing in store products you do not sell online yet? PrestaShop has no product visibility per customer group: you end up duplicating products or setting up a multistore. This module reserves a product for one or more groups inside your existing catalog. B2C shoppers never see it: not in categories, not in search, not through a direct URL. Your staff browse it on a tablet with prices, variants and stock, and when the time comes you make it public in one click or at a scheduled date, with nothing duplicated.

Hide Products by Customer Group for PrestaShop 8 & 9 + In-Store Tablet Catalog
v1.1.0 · updated 2026-09-29
What it does

The short version.

01

Truly hidden

A reserved product disappears from categories, search, faceted filters and featured-product modules, because the module relies on PrestaShop's native visibility. Its direct URL returns a not-found page or the login page, and adding it to the cart is refused.

02

A tablet catalog for your sales staff

A dedicated page, installable on the home screen like an app, shows the whole catalog: public and reserved products, prices with and without tax, variants with reference, EAN, stock and storage location. Search by name, reference or barcode, and scan with the tablet camera or a handheld scanner.

03

Customer view and QR code

A Customer view button hides stock, locations and internal labels when the salesperson turns the screen to the customer. On a public product, a QR code lets the customer open the product page on their phone to order later.

04

From reserved to public without duplicating

When a product should go on sale online, one click restores its original visibility, can enable ordering and reindexes search. Publishing can also be scheduled at a date and time for a launch.

The long version

Everything you'd want to know before you install.

A detailed look at how Hide Products by Customer Group for PrestaShop 8 & 9 + In-Store Tablet Catalog works, why we built it the way we did, and the thinking behind the features above.

§ 01

The problem: PrestaShop has no product visibility per group

PrestaShop customer groups handle prices and category access, not the visibility of a single product. To prepare a range that is not on sale yet, keep references for resellers or show in store products that are not on the website, merchants duplicate products or run a second shop in multistore. Both double the data entry, the stock to follow and the room for mistakes. This module keeps one catalog and adds one simple rule per product: public, or reserved for groups.

§ 02

Hiding that holds everywhere

A reserved product switches to the native visibility Nowhere. It therefore disappears from categories, search, faceted navigation and featured-product modules, without overriding theme queries. The module adds what native visibility does not cover: the direct URL of a reserved product returns a not-found page or the login page, adding it to the cart is refused, and the cart is cleaned at checkout. Allowed groups open the product page as usual.

§ 03

The in-store tablet catalog

Your sales staff log in with an account of the staff group and open a page designed for tablets, installable on the home screen. They see the whole catalog, reserved products included, with prices, images, descriptions and variant details. They search by name, reference or barcode, scan with the camera or a handheld scanner, and land directly on the right variant. Products with zero quantity and ordering disabled stay viewable, which is usually the case for new arrivals in preparation.

§ 04

Publish when the time comes, without duplicating

Making a product public restores its original visibility, can enable ordering and reruns search indexing. Do it from the product page, in bulk on a filter, or by pasting a list of references. For a launch, schedule publishing at a date and time: it runs on the next shop visit, or to the minute with the provided cron job.

§ 05

Ready for a B2B channel

Create a reseller group, tick it on the products meant for it, and those customers see and order them while B2C shoppers do not. An option even shows reserved products in categories and search for allowed groups. The quantity discounts of the logged-in group also show in the tablet catalog.
