Restore Cart Link for PrestaShop 8 & 9: Shareable Cart Links and Customer Cart History

Send one link by email or chat, and your customer finds every item back in their basket.

PrestaShop keeps every cart in the database, but offers no simple way to hand one back to someone. This module adds a Copy link button in Customers > Shopping Carts, on the cart detail page and on the customer page. Whoever opens the link gets a copy of the items in their own basket, with current prices and stock. On the storefront, the My saved carts page of the customer account lists previous carts, ordered or not, and restores them in one click.

Restore Cart Link for PrestaShop 8 & 9: Shareable Cart Links and Customer Cart History
v1.0.0 · updated 2026-09-28
What it does

The short version.

01

A cart sent as a single link

Your team builds the cart in the back office, copies the link and sends it by email, WhatsApp or chat. The customer clicks, sees a preview of the items and adds them to their basket without retyping anything, combinations and quantities included.

02

Reorder without searching

In their account, customers find their unfinished carts and the carts they already ordered, with thumbnails, quantities and totals. One click on Restore this cart puts the items back in the basket, then sends them to the cart page or straight to checkout.

03

The original cart stays as it is

The link logs nobody in and does not transfer the cart: it creates a copy in the basket of whoever opens it. A cart tied to an order or to another customer stays intact, and the same link can be used several times.

04

Secure by default

Every link carries an HMAC-SHA256 signature that cannot be guessed. You set a validity period and can invalidate every link shared so far in one click. A preview page stops email security scanners and link previews from creating carts by opening the link before the recipient.

The long version

Everything you'd want to know before you install.

A detailed look at how Restore Cart Link for PrestaShop 8 & 9: Shareable Cart Links and Customer Cart History works, why we built it the way we did, and the thinking behind the features above.

§ 01

Hand a cart back to a customer without making them retype it

A customer calls with a question, a sales rep prepares an order, a B2B buyer puts together a list for a manager: the cart already exists in PrestaShop, but nothing lets you pass it on. With this module, the link is shown on every cart in the back office. You copy it, you send it, and the recipient finds the items with the right combinations and quantities.

§ 02

A copy, never a transfer

The native PrestaShop cart recovery link logs the person into the account of the customer who owns the cart. This module does the opposite: the source cart is never modified and nobody is logged in as someone else. Items are added one by one to the visitor's basket, so the current rules apply: prices, promotions, stock, minimum quantities and availability for order.

§ 03

A cart history in the customer account

The My saved carts page lists the customer's carts with their date, number of items, products total and ordered status. The customer expands the details, spots items that are no longer available and restores the cart they want. In replace mode, the current cart is kept in the history, so they can go back to it at any time.

§ 04

Built for links sent by email

Mail gateways such as Outlook Safe Links or Proofpoint, and link previews in Slack, Teams or WhatsApp, open links before the recipient does. Without protection, every automatic visit would create a cart. The preview page, enabled by default, shows the items and waits for a click on Add these items to my basket. Known bots always get this page, even if you turn it off.
