Does the module remove categories from my products?

No. It only adds the missing associations to parent categories. No existing association is removed and the default category of each product stays the one you chose.

How is it different from the faceted search option?

That option shows subcategory products in the listing without assigning them to the parent category. Cart rules by category, exports and third-party modules still see the product outside that category. This module creates the associations in the database, so they are taken into account everywhere.

What happens with products imported by CSV?

With the automatic mode enabled, each imported product is assigned to its parent categories at the end of every import batch, once its categories are saved. After a very large import, run a bulk fix anyway to check that no product was missed.

Can I prevent some categories from being added?

Yes. The Home category is excluded by default and can be included in one click. An exclusion list keeps other categories from ever being added as parents. Their own parents are still added.

Does it handle large catalogs?

Yes. The bulk fix runs in AJAX batches whose size you set, from 20 to 2000 products per request, with a progress bar. The category tree is loaded once per batch and inserts are grouped.

Is the module compatible with PrestaShop 9?

Yes, from PrestaShop 8.0 to PrestaShop 9.x with the same ZIP, new product page included. It relies on ModuleAdminController and uses no Composer dependency.

In PrestaShop, a category only lists the products directly assigned to it. A product imported into a subcategory stays invisible in the parent category, and the top-level pages of your menu look empty or close to it. This module assigns every product to all the parent categories of the categories it already belongs to. A dry run counts the missing associations across the whole catalog, one click adds them in batches, then the automatic mode keeps the rule in place every time a product is created, updated or imported.

Why your parent categories look empty

PrestaShop only lists in a category the products directly assigned to it. When an import, a supplier feed or quick data entry files a product in its final category only, the higher levels do not see it. The first-level menu pages, which often carry the traffic and the rankings, then show a handful of products while the catalog holds hundreds below them.

Real associations, not just a display trick

The faceted search module offers an option to show subcategory products in a listing. It only changes the display: in the database, the product still does not belong to the parent category. Cart rules restricted by category, exports, product feeds and third-party modules that read associations do not see it. This module creates the real associations, visible wherever PrestaShop and its modules read the categories of a product.

Fix what exists, then forget about it

The bulk fix processes the catalog in batches, with no timeout risk, after a dry run that measures the work. The automatic mode then takes over: a product created in the product page, imported by CSV or sent through the webservice is assigned to its parents as soon as its categories are saved. If you move a category under another parent, every product of the branch is assigned to the new parents.

You stay in control of the tree

The Home category can be included or not. An exclusion list keeps some categories from being added as parents, such as a Sale or New arrivals showcase category. Added products go to the end of each category, which preserves the manual sorting you already set, and the default category of each product stays unchanged.
